Summer is finally here and our latest issue is full of useful information on how to make the most of the next two months. With a distinctly seasonal flavour it's filled with plenty of information on things to do and discover across the region. Our guide to 'L'Ile de Ré' will have you racing for your car keys as we uncover the special places to visit on this magical isle, and our list of the region's forthcoming festivals has something for everyone.

There is something magical about summer that brings renewed optimism and energy so if, like me, you always feel 10 years younger and up for a challenge at this time of year, why not try something new? Our feature on one of France's favourite pastimes - pétanque - should convince even the least sporty of us that this is an activity we can all enjoy. Or, if you are looking for something a little more in touch with nature, our 'beekeeping for beginners' guide could be just the thing.

As always, we'd love to hear from you; do you have a story to tell? Have you a favourite restaurant others should know about, and what would you like to see in Living Poitou-Charentes magazine?
