Paris Je
T'Aime
Like the film Paris, Je T'Aime, life often plays out in small
vignettes that don't necessarily go the way we'd planned, but
sometimes delight us with their results. Designer Severine Peraudin
set out to be a photographer, but luckily for us, life's twists led
her to fashion design instead.
In order to pay for her
studies in New York, Peraudin created her first collection. Noting
its instant success, she changed her course and launched her
self-titled label in 1986. Her fun, flirty pieces soon caught the
eye of fashion's elite, and in the early '90s, Rosita Missoni
recruited the young designer to reenergize the Italian label. There,
Peraudin mastered the subtleties of knitwear and accessories, and
brought Missoni back to the forefront of fashion.
In 1995,
Peraudin returned her focus to her eponymous collection. She opened
a shop on Place St. Sulpice in the fashionable St. Germain district
of Paris and began creating pieces marked by sensual volumes, varied
textures and sophisticated colors. She followed this with her line V
by Severine Peraudin, which expresses the same distinctly Parisian
aesthetic but is notably difficult to find in the U.S. Fortunately
for ideeli members, you don't have to travel to the City of Lights
to capture some of its charm for yourself.
