What’s news?
MODERN MAGAZINE CONF — I’ll be in London late next week to speak at The Modern Magazine 2014 conference. It’s a jam-packed day of magazine-making goodness, hosted by magCulture's Jeremy Leslie. Find out more about the speakers
or buy tickets here.
VIDEO PORTRAIT — I’m not quite sure if I deserve the attention, but the friendly folks of Melbourne-based envato have made a beautifully-produced mini-documentary about me and my glamourous life as an indie publisher. (Disclosure: envato is an Offscreen sponsor)
INDESIGN TIME-LAPSE — During the design process of the latest issue, I thought it would be interesting to show how I put together one of the six lengthy interviews in the magazine. I recorded a time-lapse video of it all that you can now watch online.
OLD NEWS — Earlier this month I was in Hamburg at the first IndieCon, a conference dedicated to (mostly German) indie magazines. A few days later I was heading to Berlin to oversee the print of issue No9 at my printer. In August, I managed to fit in a little fundraiser for asylum seekers
in Australia and raised $450 for the local Asylum Seeker Resource Centre. I also wrote down a few thoughts on the future of print and participated in my own "Day in the Life of" series on my blog. In July, I shared some things I learned about public speaking so far
and replied publicly to some feedback I received from my readers. Oh, and if you are interested in the apps/tools I'm using the make Offscreen, I've compiled a list of those here.
A lot of hard work from the many contributors and myself went into making the latest issue a reality. And of course, it wouldn't exist without the financial backing by our sponsors: Campaign Monitor, Envato, Hoefler & Co, InVision,
Shopify, Squarespace, Typekit, WeTransfer. Don't forget, you can help us
secure future issues by spreading the word on- and offline. Every new reader counts! Once you receive your copy, please instagram your magazine experience with #offscreenmag and send in any feedback you have. Thanks so much for your support!
