Essentials: How to wear a tux

Here's what you need to know about buying—and wearing—a tuxedo.

1) Buy a classic one- or two-button tuxedo with peak or notch lapels.

2) If your Tux doesn't fit in the shoulders, it's not going to fit anywhere else.

3) Have a tailor customize it to your body. When you return to get your
tux after it's been altered, always
try it on again.

4) A tuxedo is defined by its lapels. A peak lapel is the most classic, while a notch lapel has become the standard.

5) Ditch the Cummerbund. Stick with the suspenders. Belts are not worn with tux pants.

6) A bow tie goes best with a peak-lapel tuxedo, while a straight tie works better with a notch lapel. Stick to black. Match the fabric of your lapel and tie.

The right pair of shoes can bring your look together - (don't forget the socks)

Every man needs a pair of black lace up's. Plain toe with no detailing or wingtip. They will look great with a black suit or jeans and can be worn to work and out in the evening.

When choosing socks, the basic rule is to consider the suit instead of the shoe—in other words, if you're wearing
a navy suit with black shoes, reach for navy socks.

Ingredients: 2 ounces tequila
1/2 ounce lime juice
pinch of salt
grapefruit soda

Combine the tequila (reposado, preferably), lime juice, and salt in a tall collins glass. Add ice, top off with grapefruit soda, and stir. The soda can be hard to find; at last resort use lemon-lime soda with a splash of grapefruit juice. Some prefer the salt on the rim of the glass.

Q: "Hi I am hosting my first New Years Party any advise? " B. T - West Hollywood

A: 1) There are a few things to do before anyone enters your house such as make the bed and close your shower curtain. Also hide bank statements or credit card bills. Or not. Check your zipper.

2) Be attentive and greet everyone personally as soon as they arrive. Never rush into a hug or kiss with a casual acquaintance.

3) "You look [Pick one: stunning, beautiful, dazzling bewitching, charming, classy, cute, divine, elegant, exquisite, gorgeous, graceful, lovely, magnificent, radiant ]."

4) If someone spills wine on themselves, use a dry white napkin to soak up the liquid, apply cold water so the stain stays damp. Don't rub.

5) When trying to decide how much food you will need always round up your estimates, don't round them down. Avoid repeating a main ingredient. For example, shrimp appetizer and shrimp main dish.

6) To revive a wrinkled suit, get it steam-pressed instead of dry-cleaned.
